Over the past month or so I have realized that my true purpose in life is to teach. I have prayed and prayed. I had come to the conclusion that I needed to "get my ducks in a row" so to speak, and thus I began preparing to apply for next year's teaching jobs.
Then, I began to search for ways to find something new to fill the gap - trying to come up with ways that I could teach this year - whether it was teaching at a pre-school or substitute teaching.
On a Friday, nearly two weeks ago, I came home and there was a call from Memphis City Schools - they had English openings and wanted to know if I was interested in coming back to teach.
Well, I firmly believe things happen for a reason - God had answered my prayers, He was presenting his "plan" to me.
So, Monday morning I called Human Resources and they asked which school I preferred from the three available schools and then they asked when I could start. I promptly put in my two weeks notice.
I am scheduled to start teaching on Monday. I am excited and nervous - all the normal pre-first day jitters. I don't know what grade levels I'm teaching, if I have a classroom all to myself, or when my planning period is... but hey, I don't need to sweat the details, right?
