I really need to quit thinking it can't get any worse, because as sure as the sun rises in the morning, the drama unfolds more and more resulting in my feeling less and less good about it all.
The problem is my status as a step-parent --- this is a very tricky place to be. Basically you (or maybe just I) have no rights, at all, whatsoever, when it comes to said step-child(ren). Which, personally I think is utter crap! The problem initiates itself between divorced partners - if a couple divorces, they must agree and have a plan with which to raise children together, while residing separately. This way, there's a plan for any new addition, the step-parent, to follow.
The lines of communication between parents must be open. Otherwise the people who suffer most are the people who have the least amount of control - the children!
